Branford Riley Lacher

Branford Riley (Bean) Lacher of Clifton, TN was born November 6, 1924 in Wayne Co., TN, the son of the late Allen W. and Ollie E. Baker Lacher. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Dowdy on June 22, 1953 and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2002. He later married Gwynlyn Gaither on February 14, 2009.

Mr. Lacher was a businessman, having co-owned Dowdy & Lacher, Inc. He was a member of the Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton, Tennessee, a member of Clifton Rotary Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the United States Navy during WW II where he was a submariner on USS Redfish.

Mr. Lacher departed this life on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his home at the age of 89 Years, 9 Months, 27 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Gwyn Lacher of Clifton, TN; a son, Lee Lacher of Clifton, TN; a daughter, Jeanie Sopcak and husband, Steve of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Bateman and her husband Todd, Tess Sopcak, Emma Sopcak, Annie Adams, Jason Crummer; great-grandchildren, Ava and Isla Adams; sister-in-law, Flora Lacher of Waynesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his first wife, Dorothy, the mother of his children, Mr. Lacher was preceded in death by brothers, Bluford, Joe, Carl, Allen, Jr. and Bob Lacher and sisters, Lucille Mathis, Grace Lacher and Mary Ashmore.

Services will be Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Clifton United Methodist Church, Clifton, Tennessee, with Josh Layne officiating. Burial will follow in the Clifton Cemetery, Clifton, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Friday, September 5, 2014 from 9 am to service time at Clifton United Methodist Church, Clifton, TN.

In lieu of flowers family requests donations be given to the Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton, TN or Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in Jackson, TN.
