BROWNIE POWERS NICHOLwas born May 19, 1924, in Saltillo, Tennessee to Daniel Lee and Capitola McDougal Powers.Brownie was a military veteran of the U.S. Navy, (WAVES: Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service).She retired as the Billing Manager from Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. She previously worked for Western Kentucky Regional Mental Health, and served on the Mental Retardation Board. She was also employed by Charter Hill Hospital.She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Paducah, Kentucky. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of the Republican Party.Brownie departed this life on October 4, 2012 at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 15 days.Brownie is survived by two daughters, Jane Martin of Paducah, Kentucky and Carol Rottgering of Calvert City, Kentucky, two sons, William P. Nichol of Paducah, Kentucky and H. Doug Nichol of Hendersonville, Tennessee, a sister, Ann Towery of Atlanta, Georgia and two brothers, Joe Powers of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jack Powers of Lexington, Kentucky, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Preceding her in death, besides her parents, a son, Julian S. Nichol, Jr., two brothers, Dan Powers and Bob Powers, and a sister, Mary Smithson, and one grandson, Luke Martin.
