L.W. ‘BUD’ BUTLER

 Henderson, TN: L.W. ‘Bud’ Butler, age 89, passed away July 19, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital

Bud was born in Mifflin, TN, on May 10, 1935. His parents were James William and Celden Faucett Butler. He graduated from Chester County High School on May 14, 1953.

He worked for the State of Tennessee survey crew from 1953 until 1958. He entered the U.S. Navy from July 28, 1956, until June 28, 1958. He served aboard the USS Randolph CVA-15 Aircraft Carrier. He was in the US Naval Reserve from 1953 until 1958 when he received an Honorable Discharge.

He worked for the State again from June 1958 until July 1960 when he bought the Queen’s Cup. His mom Mrs. Celden Butler, sisters, Faye Butler and Sue Butler Leath worked for him.

He sold the Queen’s Cup in 1965, and then went to work for CIT Finance Company until 1969. He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance as a claim’s adjuster until 1972, then he opened a shoe store, Magic Valley Shoes and ran it until 1981.

He got back in the restaurant business until 1988 then went to work for Random House Books Distribution Center in Jackson, TN, retiring in 1998. For two years he drove all over the United States then he went to work for Manpower having to retire in 2003 for health problems.

He has two sons, Jason and wife Kathy of Henderson; Justin Butler and wife Cybele of Los Angeles, CA; a grandson, Tyler Butler and wife Dana Leigh of Jackson, a granddaughter, Brooklyn Butler of Henderson and one great granddaughter, Briar Butler. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 24th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Unity Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
