Burl Armour was born May 8, 1913 in Chester County, Tennessee the son of the late Anthony Wayne and Mary Kathryn Burkeen Armour.
He was united in marriage to Deffie Rowland on November 15, 1934. Mrs. Armour preceded him in death on October 23, 2007 following 72 years of marriage.
Mr. Armour was a farmer and also operated Armour Plumbing and Electrical for many years. He was also a partner with Charles Lee in the Sunshine Launderette, which they operated for 42 years. Mr. Armour was a charter member and former Deacon of Lakeview Baptist Church, dating back to 1949.
Mr. Armour departed this life on January 14, 2011 at his home in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 97 Years, 8 Months, 6 Days. He is survived by three sons: Dolphus Armour and wife Naomi, James Armour and wife Joyce, and Ronald Armour and wife Faye, all of Selmer, TN; two daughters, Mary Floyd and Melba Harrison, both of Selmer, TN; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie Brennon of Germantown, TN and Waynenona Warren and husband Tom of Brownsville, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Armour was preceded in death by three brothers: Leonard Armour, Tilmon Armour, and Ancil Armour; five sisters: Bertha Rowland, Ellie Rowland, Attie Pearl Hodge, Idell Hatch, and Jessie Howell; and a son-in-law: Zane Harrison.
