Jerry Arnold "Butch" Smith was born February 13, 1947 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late Arnold Dee Smith and Mary Ruth Sims Smith. Butch departed this life on April 13, 2026 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 2 Months.

Butch was a man of simple pleasures and unwavering commitment. For over five decades, he was the proud owner and operator of Smith Welding Service, a testament to his hard work and perseverance. His service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War reflected his deep sense of duty and courage. Beyond his work and service, Butch found joy in the open road, often riding his motorcycle, embracing the freedom and peace it brought him.

He is survived by a son, Gary E. Baker and wife Wendy; two grandchildren, Logan Baker and fiance Darby Arnold, Lainey Baker all of Selmer, TN.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Smith.
