Carl Douglas Smith, Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the age of 48 years, 8 months, and 3 days. He was born in Savannah, Tennessee on March 20, 1968 the son of Jane Littlejohn Smith and the late Carl Douglas Smith, Sr. On May 13, 1995 he was united in marriage to Sarah Strickland, who survives.
Carl had lived in Corinth, Mississippi and Baldwin, Mississippi. He had attended Olivet Pentecostal Church and was a Sunday School teacher in the teen class. He had been preaching for the past couple of years, some at Olivet Pentecostal Church, as well as Worship and the Word on Freedom River Media. Carl had worked for Piggly Wiggly as a stocker before becoming disabled. He loved collecting comic books and studying his Bible. He loved his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a God-son, Michael Strickland of Savannah, Tennessee; and brother, Chris Smith of Lexington, Tennessee.
