CARL TIGNOR
Henderson: Carl Anderson Tignor, age 88, passed away Monday evening December 22, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Tignor was born September 4, 1926 in the Tignor Store Community of Chester County, the son of the late James Manley and Lyde Watlington Tignor. He attended schools in Henderson County, and in 1946 married Carnell Rhodes. They made their home in the Tignor Store Community where they owned and operated the Tignor Store, farmed, and owned and operated Carl Tignor anhydrous ammonia fertilizer business. He also picked beans, cotton and corn for other farmers. He enjoyed hard work and enjoyed his customer’s friendship. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church.
They traveled extensively in the United States, including Hawaii, many European countries, and the Holy Land.
Mr. Tignor is survived by his wife, Carnell Rhodes Tignor and three daughters, Brenda Reddin and husband Jimmy, Shelia Frank and husband Norris all of Henderson and Kathy Belew and husband Ricky of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Justin Donny Frank, Carla Lynn Visser, Brenda Michelle Reddin, Crystal Janette Wilson, Amber Jamie Carter, Tanya Sue Spiller and Summer Kathy Tippitt and seventeen great-grandchildren, and a sister, Eliza Harris of Beech Bluff.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donny Carl Tignor in 1977; seven brothers, Edward, Earl, Romie, Bob, Homer, Joe Ray and John Harvey Tignor and three sisters, Jimmie Butler, Pauline Vestal and Beulah Holmes.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday December 24, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Dr. James Huggins and Rev. Fred Ward officiating and burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday.
