Carmen Victoria Gerena-Breeden, was born March 3, 1939 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Jose Gerena and Carmen Hernandez-Gerena.
Today we are honoring our beautiful, loving and devoted mom, Carmen Breeden. Carmen grew up in Puerto Rico where she met the love of her life, Bill Breeden Jr. of Bolivar, Tennessee. They were married in 1957 and were reassigned to Tampa, Florida where they began a new life and family together. She and Bill were married for 62 years and had four beautiful children. Carmen loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This allowed Carmen to accomplish what she wanted most in life - to love, be loved, and to have a family of her own.
Carmen dedicated her life to her family and her love for the Lord. Carmen immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness. She was a joyful presence with her beautiful smile and open heart and arms.
Carmen was one of the “Golden Girlz” of Flower Mound Texas, a dedicated group of women who love and serve the Lord faithfully. She was known as a faithful prayer warrior. She devoured God’s word and prayed every day for her family and everyone else.
On the morning of February 29, 2024 she left her frail body and became a citizen of God’s glorious kingdom. She is living eternally with her precious Savior, Jesus. We will miss her is an understatement. But we look forward to rejoicing with her and our family again. We are hugging her in our souls every day.
She is survived by her four children, Julie Herndon of Sacramento, California, Mary Hook of Flower Mound, Texas, William Breeden III of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Jack Breeden of Issaquah, Washington, and her sisters, Josephine Rodriguez and Nannette Gerena of San Diego, California. as well as her sister-in-law, Alice Breeden-Tate of Bolivar, Tennessee.
Carmen also leaves behind a legacy of nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well a host of dear relatives and friends.
How beautiful is a mother’s love. How blessed are the lives it touches. We will deeply miss you.
