Carol Ehrett

Carol Ehrett, 75, departed this life on Monday, May 26, 2025, at her home in Somerville.

The daughter of the late Sam and Virginia Melson, she was born in Jackson where she grew up in the Beech Bluff community and graduated from Beech Bluff High School.  Soon after, she went to work at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and on March 3, 1970, was united in marriage to Houston Ehrett. In 1980, the couple moved to Memphis where she began to assist her husband in his insurance and finance business.  In 2009, the family moved to Somerville and there, she began to fully embrace her life as a homemaker.  She was known for keeping an immaculate home and yard which she thoroughly enjoyed maintaining.

A long-time member of the Church of Christ, Carol had been a member of the Sycamore View and Quail Ridge congregations in Memphis.

A visitation for Mrs. Ehrett will be Monday, June 2nd, from 6-8 pm at Somerville Church of Christ, Somerville, TN.  The service will be Tuesday, June 3rd, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar at 2 pm.  Visitation of  Tuesday will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her daughter, Tracy Ehrett, of Somerville; brothers, Donnie Melson of Jackson, Ronnie Melson of Conroy, TX and Billie Melson of Bethel Springs; her brother-in-law, Robin Ehrett (Linda) of Jackson; family friend, Ann Sebastian of Collierville; and her beloved grand-pups, 'Lillie' and 'Ollie'

She was preceded in death, as well, by her sister, Linda Porter.
