Carolyn Georgene Henson, 77, of Whiteville, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of Joe Manard Henson, who died August 20, 1985, she retired as an assembly worker at Master Slack in Bolivar and also worked at Slant and Slant in Somerville. Mrs. Henson was born June 22, 1933 in Fayette County to the late Simon Carroll Harvey and Viola Davis Harvey and lived most all of her life in Whiteville. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Whiteville and enjoyed gardening and sewing.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Sandra Shields and Edgar of Whiteville, Rhonda McLeroy and Keith of Middleton; four sons and their wives, Roger Henson and Shirley of Bolivar, Billy Henson and Jackie, Rickey Henson and Brenda, all of Whiteville, Daryl Henson and Stacey of Jackson; a companion, Robert Wynne of Whiteville; a sister and her husband, Dell Cannon and Raymond of Williston; thirteen grandchildren, Chris, Jordan, Jessica, Eric and Jacob Henson, Stephanie Driver, Joey Bryant, Wade Williams, Joshua Shields, Nickolas, Kameron and Taylor McLeroy, Kim Thompson; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, whom she married in September 18, 1947, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Henson; her older sister who raised her, Myrtis Goodman; three sisters and three brothers.
