Obituary

Carolyn Wood Hill was born September 16, 1952, in Counce, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Cecil and Rebie Curtis Wood. She attended Southside High School and was a faithful member of West Shiloh Baptist Church.

On June 30, 1970, Carolyn was united in marriage to Donald Hill, and together they shared 56 years of marriage filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories.

Carolyn found great joy in the simple things in life, especially caring for her flowers. She could often be found spending hours in her yard, tending to her flowers and taking great pride in making them beautiful. She was also a wonderful cook, and her sweet potatoes and chicken and dressing were favorites among her family. More than anything, Carolyn cherished her family and the time she spent with those she loved.

Carolyn departed this life on August 26, 2026, in Adamsville, Tennessee, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 10 days. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hill of Stantonville, Tennessee; a daughter, Cindy Harbin; a son, Kevin Hill and wife Patricia “Sissy”; seven grandchildren, Chris Ellis and wife Anna, James Hill and wife Harley, Riley Hill, Leslie Hill, Holly Finley and companion Kacie, Haley Harbin, and Hayden Harbin and wife Amanda; eleven great-grandchildren, Chloe Ellis, Ashton Ellis, Hazel Hill, Rowdy White, Rosie White, Ronan Atkins, Everett Lee, Laython Reeves, Fletcher Harbin, Chase Presley, and Harper Rayburn; a sister, Catherine Murphy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eloise Lambert Hannah, Peggy Ashe and husband Mike, and Gayle Parrott and husband Phillip; along with a host of nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Turner, Amalois Lomenick, and Charlene Blakney; a brother, Jimmy Wood; her parents-in-law, Edna Mae (Connor) Hill and Cleabern William Hill Sr. “Shorty”; three brothers-in-law, Cleabern William Hill Jr. “Junior,” Carlos Lambert, and Jim Hannah; and her son-in-law, Johnny Alan Harbin.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful flowers, her delicious cooking, her devotion to her family, and the love and warmth she brought to the lives of those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
