Carolyn V. Messer, a beloved member of her community and a devoted homemaker, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 84. Born on June 1, 1940, in the quaint town of Bolivar, Tennessee, Carolyn spent the majority of her life nurturing those around her, creating a legacy of love that will endure for generations.
A proud member of Shandy Baptist Church, Carolyn's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both triumphs and tribulations. Her warm presence and kind heart were a source of comfort to all who knew her. Carolyn was not just a homemaker; she was a weaver of relationships, bringing family and friends closer together through her genuine warmth and compassion.
In her leisure time, Carolyn found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and engaging in heartfelt conversations over the phone. In earlier years, she showcased her creative spirit through crocheting. Carolyn's interests were a reflection of her tender personality, as she always sought to bring a bit of beauty and comfort to the lives of those around her.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved son, Chris Messer and his wife Janet of Jackson, who cherished her deeply. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Iva Ruth Coopwood of Memphis and Mary Elizabeth Kaczmarek of Collierville, both of whom shared countless memories with their sister throughout the years. Her family extended further to step-grandson, Kevin Elder of Toone, whose presence brought joy to her life.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, George William Vaughan and Rachel Susanna Daniels Vaughan, as well as by her brothers G.W. Vaughan, Jr., Raymond "St. Louis" Vaughan, and Luther Vaughan, and her sister, Abbie V. Peters, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Additionally, she remembers her dear step-granddaughter, April Elder, whose memory lives on within the family.
Though Carolyn V. Messer has departed from this world, her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and cherished memories that will be held dear by her family and friends forever.
