CAROLYN D. ROSS

Beech Bluff, TN: Carolyn D. Ross, age 76, passed away November 21, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Milan, TN.

She was born in Reagan, TN on March 21, 1949, daughter of the late Thomas Gordon and Hazle Beecham Duck. She grew up in Reagan and went to school in Reagan and later in Sardis where she graduated from Sardis High School in 1967.

Carolyn married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, David Brent Ross, on May 26, 1967. They made their home in Beech Bluff for most of their married life.

Mr. Ross preceded her in death on December 13, 2024.

She worked for People’s Bank in Sardis, TN for several years before working for Madison County as a Personnel Director, retiring in 2008 after 30 years.

Mrs. Ross was a member of East Laurel Baptist Church in Jackson and actively worked in the nursery and children’s Sunday school program.

Her family was her joy and passion. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed shopping and spent many shopping trips with her sister, Patsy, at her side.

As a mother, she lived by the motto in Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Carolyn exemplified the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31. She was hardworking, wise, compassionate and courageous.

She is survived by three sons; Jeremy Ross (April) of Jackson,TN, Darryl Ross (Susie) of Pinson, TN and Matt Ross (Jessica) of Jackson, TN; two brothers, Billy Duck (Judy) of Reagan, TN and Joe Duck (Cindy) of Brentwood, TN; two sisters, Dianne Carter (Van) of Saltillo, TN and Patsy Schulz (Lee) of Germantown, TN; sister-in-law, Edna Duck of Reagan, TN; six grandchildren, Mason Ross (Elizabeth), Landon Ross, Ansley Ross Norton (Blake), Holden Ross, Niki Upton (Dustin Sanford) and Waylon Ross; and six great grandchildren, Rhodes Robert Norton, June Coe Ross, Andrew Upton, Knox and Maci Sanford and Ross Norton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and a brother, Gordon Duck.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday November 25, 2025, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Manning Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at East Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson, TN.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and again, on Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM service time.
