Carolyn Joyce Skimehorne Nabors, age 79, of Leoma, TN, passed away at her home on August 2, 2026.

She was born on August 9, 1946, in Hohenwald, TN, Carolyn was the daughter of the late James Dexter Skimehorne and Mary Jane Staggs Skimehorne. She dedicated many years of faithful service to Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company before retiring. After retirement, she embraced her most treasured role—that of homemaker, creating a home filled with warmth, love, and lasting memories for those she loved.

On April 24, 2002, Carolyn married the love of her life, James Riley Nabors. Together they shared precious years until his passing on March 20, 2010.

Carolyn found happiness in tending her flowers and spending countless hours in her garden, where each bloom reflected the gentle spirit she carried throughout her life. Yet nothing brought her greater joy than the time she spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment shared with them. Her love was unwavering, her heart was generous, and the memories she created will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Tina Kephart (Jerry) of Collinwood, TN, Jeff Stricklin of Leoma, TN, and Melissa Cheek of Leoma, TN; her stepson, Darrel Nabors (Sherrie) of Summertown, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amanda Thompson, Jeremy Kephart (Nancy), Elizabeth Brown (Josh), Tiffany Crews (Jamey), Toby Stricklin (Brandi), Dexter Stricklin, and Aubrey Cheek; step-grandchildren, Kelley Brunson, and Taylor Stafford; great-grandchildren, Ben Thompson, Madison Ritter, Cameryn Brown, Jace Brown, Zachary Kephart, Tucker Brown, Beckett Crews, Ryker Stricklin, and Riley Crews; siblings, Glenn Skimehorne, Dennis Skimehorne (Brenda), Wanda Faye Hill, Becky McMullin (Aaron), and Barbara Gayle Reaves; along with several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Skimehorne, Danny "Boogie" Skimehorne, Tony Skimehorne; and nephew, Dale Skimehorne.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Carolyn during visitation on Saturday August 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN. Following the visitation, Carolyn's wishes for cremation will be honored.
