Carolyn Smith O'Bryan

Carolyn Smith O'Bryan, 84, of Bolivar, passed from this life Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
She was born Saturday, May 28, 1938, in Bolivar daughter of the late James Berral Smith and Martha Gaither Smith and lived in Missouri prior to moving here 27 years ago. She married Charles William O'Bryan, Jr. on June 2, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, TN and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2002. She was a retired teacher, having taught for 43 years in Tennessee, Iowa and Missouri. She was a member of the D.A.R. and enjoyed gardening, being involved in her church, and her grandchildren. Mrs. O'Bryan was a member of Bolivar First Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Pat O'Bryan (Julie) of Arlington and Mike O'Bryan of Flower Mound, TX; a sister, Alice Sammons (Aubrey) of Collierville; and five grandchildren who were her world, Hayden, Will (Sarra), Ben, Molly and Wil O'Bryan. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gaither and James Smith. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org/donate ).
