Carroll M. McGowen

Carroll M. McGowen of Selmer, TN was born February 27, 1935 in Dudley, MO the son of the late Thomas Wiley and Bertha Marie Jackson McGowen.

He was united in marriage to his wife Donna on August 22, 2003.

Mr. McGowen moved to McNairy County in 1992. He previously had lived in Bernie, Missouri, Malden, Missouri, and Elgin, Illinois. He worked in Law Enforcement for over 20 years while living in Missouri. After moving to McNairy County, he worked as a Greenskeeper at the Shiloh Golf Course in Adamsville, TN. He enjoyed life in general, being with his family, and fishing and hunting.

Mr. McGowen departed this life on October 5, 2015 in Selmer, TN at the age of 80 Years, 7 Months, 8 Days.

He is survived by his wife Donna Helton McGowen of Selmer, TN; five daughters, Sandy Driskell and husband Gary of Metamora, IL, Revina Smith and husband Steve of Mapleton, IL, Marcy McGowan of Dexter, MO, Penny McGowen Walker of Malden, MO, Elizabeth Pennycuff and husband Darren of Bartonville, IL; four sons, Joel Lee McGowen of Selmer, TN, Michael McGowen of Bartonville, IL, Bryan McGowen and wife Stephanie of Savannah, TN, Jeff McGowen of Bernie, MO; three stepdaughters, Belinda Denson and husband Dale of Parma, MO, Terri Crawley and husband Earl of Malden, MO, Stephanie Edwards of Selmer, TN; two sisters, Thelma Brown of Dexter, MO and Verla Drury of Iuka, IL; 24 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grandchildren; former spouses and mother of his children, Ms. Floy Lee Bouchez and Anna Faye McGowen; longtime friend, Ms. Virginia Farley, and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McGowen was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Carwile; four brothers, Ralph, Charles, Thomas, and Lawrence McGowen; a stepdaughter, Selina Spitzer, two grandsons, and one great grandson.

Family asks that any memorials be made to The National Emphysema Foundation, The American Diabetes Association, or The American Heart Association.
