Cathy Eugenia Mathis of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on June 21, 2026, at the age of 68.

She was born on September 5, 1957, in Nashville, TN to the late Billie and Eugene Poe.

She is survived by her loving son Chris Poe, his wife Victoria and grandson Chris Poe, Jr; brothers, Gene Poe (Elizabeth) and nephews Alex and Austin Poe; Michael Poe (Patty), niece Mary Lane (Josh) Holcomb and nephew Evan (Mary Charlotte) Poe; sister Christy (Mike) Parham and mother-in-law Barbara Mathis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Mathis and parents Billie and Eugene Poe.

She loved to travel and especially loved going out west, and to the mountains and beach. She also loved to garden, take scenic drives, genealogy, do house renovations and spend time with family. She will be remembered for her kind and loving heart and her devotion to her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the North Highland Church of Christ Cemetery, Highland Church Rd., in Waynesboro, TN with Phillip Robinson officiating the service.
