Cecil Curtis Cooper

September 10, 1920 — April 11, 2014

Mr. Cooper died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Mr. Cooper was a native of Toone, TN, the son of the late Burton and Ethel Laney Cooper. He lived for many years in Memphis where he was a mechanic for J. W. Owens Construction. He retired in 1985. On June 20, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Smith Freeman. Mr. Cooper served his country in World War II in the US Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Bemis, where he enjoyed being an usher. He also was an avid coon hunter his entire life.

He leaves his wife, Helen Cooper of Hornsby; his daughter, Diane (Jerry) Howell of Jackson; his son, Charles (Karen) Freeman of Murphy, NC; 3 grandchildren, John Freeman, Kristi Johnson and Brian Lee Howell; 3 great-grandchildren, Dylan and Brandon Johnson and Gracelyn Joyce Howell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers.
