CECIL RAY EVANS



Jackson, TN: Cecil Ray Evans, age 84 passed away April 17, 2012 at his home in north Jackson.



Mr. Evans was born and raised in the Hardin Grave Yard Community of McNairy County, the son of the late Donnie Guy and Zera Irene Dallas Evans. He graduated from Adamsville High School in 1947 and was drafted into the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War and was awarded three Battle Stars. He married Shirley Plunk in 1956 and went to work at the Ford Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights, IL in 1956 and retired in 1986. They moved to Jackson in 1991.



He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Plunk Evans of Jackson; a son, Terry R. Evans and wife Terri of Columbia, TN; three grandchildren, Candice Showers and husband Kenneth, Shellie Evans and Krista Evans; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Betty Davis of Lakeland and Faye Martin of Enville.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Greg Evans in 1984 and Jeff Evans in 1986; a brother, Elwood Evans and two sisters, Opal Canaday and Arlene Woodard.



Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Linda Phillips officiating and burial with Military Honors will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery in McNairy County.



The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 12:00 Noon on Friday.
