Private graveside services will be held at the Middleton City Cemetery for Charles B. "Chuck" Beatse. No other visitation or services are scheduled.
Mr. Beatse passed away on Thursday night at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Chuck was the widower of Hilda Maxwell Beatse, who passed from this life on Thursday, April 6, 2017 following 56 years of marriage. Born in Augusta, GA on Wednesday March 22, 1939, he was a retired Chief Air Traffic Controller for the U. S. Navy. Upon moving to Middleton in 1977, he began working at Western Mental Health Institute and retired there, after 20 years, as Director of General Services.
Mr. Beatse was active and faithful in his Christian walk. He formerly served the Middleton church of Christ as deacon and was a long-time Bible School Teacher. While living in Georgia, he had also preached for a church in Savannah. His family remembers fondly his many generous gifts of time and money to help those in need.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed golf, playing rook, pool and dominos and working various types of puzzles. A voracious reader, he frequently read several newspapers a day.
He leaves two sons, Russ Beatse (Tammy) of Collierville and Craig Beatse (Mylene) of Middleton; and four grandchildren, Haley, Clayton, Caroline and Anna Marie Beatse.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Beatse.
