Charles Franklin Haggard Sr. of Pinson, TN passed away 8/15/2025.
He was born Oct. 18, 1936 to James William and Isie Ida Dunavant Haggard in Decatur Co., TN. He grew up in Chester County and attended school at Pinson.
Mr. Haggard leaves behind his wife of almost 72 years Loretta Jones Haggard. Children: Frank Haggard (Gina), Delona Cole (Steve), Lori Gaugh (Neil), Gigi Braden, David Haggard all locally and Virginia Cole (Dennis) of Jefferson, GA. Two special foster children Ted Willcutt (Michelle) and Vicki Aton (Chris). Grandchildren: Rob Cole, Wes Cole, Corrie Jeffords, Roy Cole, Janet Pearce, Cassie Robinson, Mark Cole, Mary Lavenue and Bryan Braden. Great-grandchildren: Nathan Cole, Camden Haskins, Laney Cole, Makenlee, Regan, Abby and Allie Cole, CJ, Carah, Conner and Nolan Jeffords, Cole and Marlie Robinson, Brent, Kaylynn, and Austin Pearce, Levi Lavenue, and Daymonn Davis.
Also, to cherish his memory are his sister Margaret Miller (Chuck) brother Fred Haggard, sister-in-law Eudora Myrick and brother-in-law Bob Jones (Gloria) and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. His brother James W. Haggard Jr. preceded him in death.
Mr. Haggard worked at Sumner Williams in Jackson for 17 years and drove a bus for Chester County for 16 years. Between those he worked various other jobs such as at a gas station, a tractor shop and owned and operated Haggard’s Grocery in Henderson. He was always a farmer.
His favorite thing was serving the Lord by serving others. Some of his favorites were: Appalachian Mt. Ministry, parenting foster children, building a church in Brazil, serving as a deacon and other leadership roles in the church. He also enjoyed hunting. He was deeply devoted to his family as they were to him.
Mr. Haggard was famous for his denim overalls and flashy suspenders. We invite you to wear your favorite suspenders to his services.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Henderson, TN. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery in Beech Bluff.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Crook Avenue Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time at the church.
