Charles David (Billy) Martin of Olive Hill, TN departed this life on Monday, February 14, 2011at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 7 Months, 29 Days. He was born June 16, 1934 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late John Fred and Bertha Mae Lawrence Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Brower Martin; brother, James Lloyd Martin; sister, Freddie Mae Walker.
Mr. Martin was retired from the United States Postal Service as a diesel mechanic and was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the Eastview View Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.
He is survived by, sons, David Martin of Henderson, TN, John Robert Martin of Selmer, TN, and Mark Anthony Martin of Saxey, TX; brother, Leonard Martin of Waynesboro, TN; sister, Marie Griggs of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Laverne Griggs and Rocky Howard Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the McGee Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be James Paul Walker, John Walker, Danny Walker, Tim Griggs, Justin Griggs, Dusty Malugen. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Butler and Brandon Littleton.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 8 am to service time at the funeral home.
