Douglas McClain was born in Hardin County on September 14, 1937, the son of the late Charlie Wilbur and Alta Mae Smith McClain.
Mr. McClain lived in Hardin County his entire life and he was employed by TVEC for thirty one years. He was also a veteran, who served his country,in the United States Army. He enjoyed any type of outside work including running the saw mill, farming, cattle ranching, cutting wood and gardening. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, and traveling, seeing many different places with his brother, Larry.
Mr. McClain departed this life on January 5, 2014, at the Hardin Medical Center, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 22 days.
He is survived by his son, Charles D. (Doug) McClain, Jr. and his wife Charlotte of Savannah, Tennessee; a special friend, Carolyn Nolan of Savannah, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Dave McClain, Timothy Keirns, Wesley McClain, Zackery Keirns and James Casteel; four sisters, Mabel Jennings and Frankie Young of Savannah, Tennessee, Robbie Hanback of Mishawaka, Indiana and Lois Hudgens of Savannah, Tennessee and one brother, Larry McClain of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane McClain; two sisters, Dorothy Godwin and Wilma Austin and one brother, Harvey Joe McClain.
