Services for Charles Edward Mitchell, age 88 of Waynesboro will be Monday, September 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro with H. H. Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.Mr. Mitchell was born February 17, 1922 in Waynesboro, the son of the late Charles Edward and Pearl E. Matlock Mitchell. He departed this life on September 4, 2010 at his home in Waynesboro. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Mitchell served on Okinawa during World War II. He was formerly employed at Dana Corporation and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife Irma Lee Walker Mitchell; two sons, Ricky Mitchell and Tommy Mitchell;daughter, Jean Inman all of Waynesboro, TN; seven grandchildren, Rick Mitchell, Gary Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, David Mitchell, Madyson Mitchell, Stephen Mitchell, and Tiffany Inman; great-grandchild, Colby Mitchell.
