Charlie Locke, 83, of Whiteville, departed this life Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Caral A. Candow Locke, who survives, he was retired as a law enforcement officer with the City of Memphis, retiring as Sergeant Detective after 25 years. He was born May 14, 1936 in Memphis, son of the late Percy W. Locke and Lillian Crawford Locke and had lived in Texas, Oklahoma and Slayden, MS prior to moving to Hardeman County 5 years ago. A veteran of the US Air Force, he loved the outdoors and being around cattle and horses, and was a member of the 'Odd Fellows Club'. His family describes him as a 'jack of all trades'. Mr. Locke was a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on July 2, 1960, survivors include 2 sons, Riley K. Locke of Henderson and C. Gray Locke (Patti) of Eads, TN; and three grandchildren, Riley C. Locke, Gray Locke II and Marena Locke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sister, Frances Hall, Martha Nelson and Mary Louise Locke.
