Mrs. Charlotte Lee Greene Holloway, age 65, of Silerton, departed this life Monday, May 9, 2016 at her home.
The wife of James Holloway, who survives, she had worked at Kilgore and Radio Shack in Selmer and also was a truck driver for a short time prior to becoming disabled in 1987. She was born September 27, 1950 in Silerton, daughter of the late Junior Boyce Greene and Rose Dean Beshires Greene and lived most of her life in Hardeman County. She was a genealogy researcher, former English teacher with Bolivar Christian Academy, former Silerton Volunteer firefighter and past president of the Silerton Fire Department, a member of the National Smallpox Team, editor of the Silerton News and a past Alderperson for the City of Silerton. Her other community involvements included being a member of the Hardeman County Humane Society and serving as a former Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Holloway was a member of Silerton Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on December 19, 1987, survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Donna Marie (Jeff) Christopher of Ligonier, PA and Cherie Lee (Tim) Bryant of Bolivar; two sons and their wives, Brent Lynn (Kristie) Ethington of Henderson and James, Jr. (Jessica) Holloway of Bolivar; a sister, Sharon R. Dickey of Bethel Springs; a brother, Boyce Dale Greene of Jackson; 8 grandchildren, Alisha Marie Doyle (Will), Christa Lee Bryant, Joshua Aaron Bryant, Zach Rayburn, Brett Dean Ethington, Nina Marie Christopher, Drew Anthony Christopher and Devin Blake Holloway; and two great grandchildren, Elena Bryant and Gideon Doyle. The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. Holloway's name be made to the American Red Cross (redcross.org/donate), the Crippled Children's Society (abilityfirst.org/donate), or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org/donate).
