Chester Andrew Hill

CHESTER HILL

Medon, TN: Chester Andrew Hill, age 79, passed away December 1, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Hill was born November 13, 1935 in Christopher, MO and grew up in Butler, MO the son of the late Walter Lincoln and Ellen Cleo Skinner Hill. He graduated from Butler High School in 1954 and married Laura Claiborne in 1957. He entered the U.S. Army and served three years. They made their home in Memphis beginning in 1968 and Mr. Hill worked in welding and maintenance. They moved to Medon in 1993 and both began working at West Tennessee Children’s Home, serving as house parents and Mr. Hill also worked in maintenance for all the group homes in Henderson. He retired in 2008.

He loved his family and friends and also loved to ride horses, he was a very good handy man at fixing things and became an excellent cook while caring for Laura. He took many trips out west with his brother Ervin.
Mr. Hill was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.

He is survived by a son, Wayne Hill of Medon, TN; four grandchildren, Kristy Shipman, Erika Hill, Drew Hill and Kevin Hill and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Shipman and Jack Shipman; a sister, Wilberta Muchmore of Raytown, MO and two brothers, Wilbur T. Hill of Liberty, MO and Ervin A. Hill of Diamond, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Laura Claiborne Hill in 2010 and a son, Edwin Andrew Hill in 2007 and three brothers, Hubert Hill, Kenneth Hill and John Hill.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ben Flatt and Ken Golson officiating and burial will be 2:00 PM Friday at Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday.
