Christa Maria Ell Baker was born in Weinheim, Germany on July 2,1930, the daughter of Erwin Oskar and Maria Christina Ell. She departed this life on March 29, 2017, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 27 days.
Christa married Tommy Joyce Baker in 1955, and moved to the United States in 1957. Shortly thereafter, she gained US citizenship. She worked as a bookkeeper for Big Star in Selmer, Tennessee. Christa was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She will be remembered for her strong faith in Christ and her love of cooking and crocheting for others.
Christa is survived by her granddaughters, Kimberly Powers Gray and husband Johnathan of Florence, Alabama and Melisa Powers, and two great granchildren, Lucas Wilt and Parker Gray.
In addition to her parents, Christa was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ralph Huggins.
