Mr. Christopher Lyn Shelly of Middleton departed this life at the age of 49 years, 10 months, and 29 days Sunday evening, June 10, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Jackson to J. P. Shelly and LaQuita Ingle July 12, 1962. A 1980 graduate of Middleton High School, he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis and worked as a clinical researcher. A native of Middleton, past residences include Memphis, Nashville, and San Francisco. He was a member of the Middleton Church of Christ.
Among his hobbies he loved collecting Egyptian and American Indian artifacts as well as creating art inspired by Egyptian and American Indian cultures, including a homemade tepee. He also had a deep love for rescuing animals. His cat of eight years, Claybrook, was found in Memphis and had also been caring for an elderly horse.
Mr. Shelly left as his survivors his father, J. P. Shelly and wife Joyce of Middleton; his mother, LaQuita Ingle of Eastview; two brothers, Anthony Shelly of Smyrna and Lance Ingle and wife Angela of Corinth; and a sister, Mica Harris of Middleton. He was also the treasured uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Donations made in memory of Mr. Shelly may be sent to the Hardeman County Humane Society.
