Obituary

Cissy Prestage, 68, of Michie, Tennessee, passed away on October 4, 2026. She was born November 4, 1957, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Cissy was a woman with a caring heart who spent much of her life looking after others. She earned her Associate’s Degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College and went on to become a registered nurse, dedicating her career to emergency nursing. She was well suited for the fast-paced and demanding work of an emergency department, bringing strength, compassion, and a calm presence to those who needed her most. For Cissy, nursing was more than a career; it was a way to care for people and make a difference when they needed someone the most.

Beyond her work, Cissy found joy in the simple, meaningful things she could do for others. She loved making paper crafts and inspirational cards, often creating them especially for someone who needed a little encouragement. She had a beautiful way of reminding people that they were thought of and cared about, and she never needed a special occasion to brighten someone’s day.

Cissy also had a special place in her heart for dogs, particularly those who had been abandoned or were in need of rescue. She cared deeply about giving these animals another chance and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her love for animals was just another reflection of the tenderness and compassion she carried with her throughout her life.

Those who knew Cissy will remember her for her caring spirit, her thoughtfulness, and the genuine love she showed to others. She had a heart for helping, encouraging, and making someone’s day a little brighter. The kindness she so freely gave will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Cissy is survived by her beloved companion, Wilk Dedwylder of Michie, Tennessee; her son, Justin Prestage and his wife, Amanda, of Sarah, Mississippi; her grandsons, Chandler Prestage and Jaxon Prestage; and her dearest friend, Fran Lala of Dallas, Texas.

Cissy leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind the quiet imprint of a life spent caring for others—one patient, one friend, one handmade card, and one rescued dog at a time. Her life was a testament to the difference a kind and compassionate heart can make, and she will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
