Mrs. Clara Smith Taylor of Bolivar departed this life at the age of 93 years Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Hardeman County, she was born to the late James Joseph and Patience Jones Ervin Smith April 29, 1919. On February 26, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ray Taylor who preceded her in death December 9, 2010. She worked at Harmon Automotive for 17 years before retiring to keep her granddaughter, Amy.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Toone where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed antiquing, cooking and working word puzzles. She loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughter, Amy, and great-granddaughter, Ava, and loved her church family very much.
Survivors include a daughter, Raylene Taylor Jacobs of Bolivar; a granddaughter, Amy Jacobs Rhymer and husband Erich of Bolivar; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Rhymer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise Sweat, J. Simon Smith, Bunyon Smith, Ambrose Smith, Jones Smith, Lee Smith, Ervin Smith and George Will Smith; and her son-in-law, Rev. Billy Jacobs.
