Clarence John Bennett

Clarence John “Jack†Bennett was born in Columbia, Tennessee, on December 24, 1948, the son of the late Dr. Wendell and Mami Bennett, and his father “Dutch†Reinschmidt.
Jack, as he was known to his many friends, was truly a Jack-of-all trades. He could fix anything but a broken heart. He graduated from the Columbia Military Academy in 1968. He attended Ole Miss, Memphis State, and Ringling School of Art. He was a boat captain in the oil fields for over twenty years. He was a Board Member for the Shiloh Falls Homeowners Association, a member of the 356 Porsche Registry, the Hole-in-One Club and the Tri-State Gun and Archery Club. He grew bonsai trees and orchids, and he was a collector of Civil War Memorabilia and Indian Artifacts.
Jack believed in the Presbyterian faith. He departed this life on June 27, 2012, at the age of 63 years after a courageous fight with melanoma cancer.
On March 27, 1989, he was united in marriage to Linda Belle Payne who survives. In addition to his loving wife, Linda, he is survived by his loyal companion King Cotton McBennett, his faithful Scottish Terrier; three brothers, James Bennett (Dolly) of Corinth, Mississippi, Clark Bennett (Sonja) of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, George Bennett (Kim) of Germantown, Tennessee; three sisters, Ester Lee Davenport (Doug) of Culleoka, Tennessee, Julie Kauffman (Fred) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Jane Schifani (J.) of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Lee Dimler of Estero, Florida; two aunts, Betsy English of Nashville and Louise Jones of Columbia, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
