Clarence Owen Hays
September 15, 1919 — July 5, 2015
Clarence O. Hays of Henderson, TN formerly of Paducah, KY age 95, died July 5, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Services will be 7:00 PM Tuesday July 7, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel in Henderson, TN with Dr. Roger Penn officiating. Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday July 8, 2015 at Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell, KY.
Mr. Hays was a ten year employee of Sperry Rail Service of Danbury, CT. He retired from the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion plant after thirty four years of service. Mr. Hays was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Henderson and the Wesley Sunday School class. He served on the first Western Ky. Crime Stoppers Board and later as Chairman, a volunteer for Paducah Co-Operative Ministry serving as habitat treasurer and nursing Home Ombudsman, a volunteer for RSVP, a Duke of Paducah and former steady customer and VIP at the Paducah, KY Steak & Shake Restaurant.
He is survived by two nieces Judy Beene (Kenny) of Finger, TN and Mary Johnson (Jay) of St. James City, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ruth Hays, his parents, Barney Ross and Rachel Wright Hays, his brothers, John W. Hays, Ross J. Hays and George R. Hays and one nephew, James Hays.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church or other charitable organization.
