Claude Goody Brandow

October 20, 1942 — June 24, 2009

Claude Goody Brandow, 66, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Mary Immaculate Hospital , Newport News, Va. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, but raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he had been a Virginia Peninsula resident since 1975.



Mr. Brandow was a Vietnam Vet and retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army in 1982 with 21 years of honorable service. He then went on to work as a foreman with Northrop Grumman, as a contractor at Ft. Eustis, retiring in 2005 with 25 years of service.



He was a member and Elder at Olivet Christian Church and also a member of the DAV Chapter 2 in Denbigh, The VFW, and Masonic Transportation Lodge #337.



Mr. Brandow was preceded in death by his parents Karl Brandow and wife Evelyn; and his infant daughter, Josephine in 1972. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Josephine "Jo" Brandow; a son, Christopher Brandow and wife, Sarah, of Roanoke, VA; a daughter, Tammy Mitchell of Newport News; and three grandchildren, Brooke Mitchell and Isaiah and Lily Brandow.



Graveside service were conducted on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Chester County Memory Gardens. Shackelford-Johnson Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
