CLESSIE MAE STOVALL

Henderson, TN: Clessie Mae Hayes Stovall, age 90 passed away at her home peacefully with her family at her side June 10, 2023.

She was born and raised in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Addie Harrison and Lessie Maybell Reeves Hayes. She attended Henderson County Schools. She married Charles Stovall in 1949 and they made their home in the Glendale Community where they farmed.

She worked for Salant and Salant, Chester County Manufacturing Company and Shultz Manufacturing in Savannah. As well as Poplar Price and Dollar General in Henderson.  She had a great quality of life and was absolutely adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was diagnosed with cancer this past year and remained strong throughout her treatments. 

She was a founding member of the Glendale Community Center and a member of Holly Springs United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Stovall (Nancy) of Luray, TN; a daughter Lorria Ross and three grandchildren, Cody Stovall (Megan), Taylor Ross (Emily), and Shiann Cupples (Ty) and four great grandchildren Lincoln and Lucy Stovall, and Leo and Hazel Ross and a baby great granddaughter Ross on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Stovall; brother, Rufus Hayes; and grandson, Dustin Stovall.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Keith Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
