Mr. Sneed passed away Saturday morning at St. Frances Hospital in Memphis.
A native of Hardeman County, he was the son of the late Guy W. Sneed, Sr. and Lucille Reynolds Sneed Spain. Although he lived most of his life in Hardeman County, he also had lived in California, Michigan and Oklahoma. Mr. Sneed married the former Lena Mae Ray on May 5, 1952 and was a member of the Grand Junction Church of Christ, where he often led singing. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and retired from Ford Motor Company as a machine repairman in 1973.
He leaves his wife, Lena Mae Sneed of Grand Junction; three daughters, Marilyn McQuade of Rogers Springs, Carol Frazier of Walnut, MS and Claudia Sergent and husband, Rick, of Grand Junction; one son, Clifton Sneed, Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Grand Junction; four sisters, Gloria Hurdle and husband, Boyd, of Memphis, Billie Morris and husband, T. Ray, of Oakland, Ann Sparkman and husband, Tommy, of Williston and Sandra Glover and husband, Sam, of Bartlett; four brothers, Guy Sneed, Jr. and wife, Avis, of Edmund, OK, Aldon Sneed and wife, Millie, of Moscow, John Spain and wife, Lynn, of Eads and Paul Spain of Collierville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Yarbrough of Marion, AR on December 6, 2008.
