Clyde Eugene Lumpkin departed this life on October 24, 2015 in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 27 days.
He was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on October 27, 1932, the son of the late J.B. and Essie Lumpkin. He was united in marriage to Joy Wilson, who survives.
Mr. Lumpkin was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. He was also a veteran of the United States Army where he reached the rank of Corporal, serving as a paratrooper from 1949-1953. Clyde had worked for PCA in Counce, Tennessee as a liner board manufacturer, beginning his career with St. Regis in Jacksonville, Florida before transferring to the mill at Counce in 1960, where he worked until his retirement in February, 1993.
He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his children, and he also loved his cats.
In addition to his wife Joy, he is survived by one daughter, Nancy Lumpkin of Savannah, Tennessee; three sons: Gene and Jeff Lumpkin of Savannah, Tennessee, and Greg Lumpkin of Blackstone, Virginia; one stepdaughter, Cyretha Smith of Camden, Tennessee; and one stepson, Wilson Patterson of Holiday, Tennessee;
Ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Sidell, and three brothers Lloyd, Alfred, and Ollie Lumpkin.
