CORA TIDWELL CROWE
Finger, TN: Cora Lue Tidwell Crowe, age 87 passed away May 2, 2016 at McNairy County Healthcare.
She was born January 11, 1929 in Finger, TN, McNairy County and reared in McNairy, Chester and Hardin Counties, the daughter of the late Jess Carl and Lethia Ann Ezekiel Tidwell. She went to school in Chester County, Sweetlips community. She married Harold Crowe on February 21, 1948. Mr. Crowe died in 1983.
Mrs. Crowe was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. She was an avid gardner and cook, welcoming all to her table and into her heart. She was an amazing seamstress that loved quilting and believed a quilt would keep the body and soul warm. She loved God, her husband her family and taught all how to live a generous and selfless life. “Granny Crowe” was greatly admired by any and everyone she met, and her legacy lives on in her many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
Mrs. Crowe is survived by three sons, Bob Crowe (Judy) of Finger, Jerry Crowe of Henderson and Kenneth Crowe (Donna) of Finger and four daughters, Ann Ling (Lui) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shelia Collier of Memphis, Betty Main (Marty) of Jackson and Kathy Hurst (Danny) of Selmer; twenty five grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a special nephew, David Keller, who was reared as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Crowe; two brothers, Jessie Tidwell, Sr. and John Willie Tidwell and a sister, Della Jane Plunk and a son Jessie Harold leaving his wife Jackie.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday May 4, 2016 at Lanes Chapel Church with Don Lipford and David Paseur officiating. Burial will follow in Lanes Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers to serve will be, David Everett, Chris Haggard, Kyle Petty, Rodney Sisk, Terry Weatherly and Kenneth Cox, honorary, Derik Ling, Bryan Ling and Jake Harville.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday and again on Wednesday from 8:00am until 1:00 pm at the Casey Chapel.
