CURTIS B. BAILEY
Oakfield, TN: Curtis B. Bailey age 85 passed away September 7, 2017 at his home.
He was born August 14, 1932 in Henderson County, the son of the late Theodore Max and Exie Ardell Brantley Bailey. He attended schools in Henderson County. He moved to Peoria, IL in early 1950 and began working for Caterpillar. He met and soon married Hilda Jeanette Gholson June 30, 1950. They have been married sixty-seven years. They moved to Oakfield, TN in 1953 where he farmed and worked for the State Highway Department. In the early 70’s he began working with the Illinois Central Railroad until retiring. He later then worked for Owen’s Corning Fiberglass in Jackson. Working was his favorite hobby and he could fix about anything mechanically. He was a Master Mason, a member of Lodge 332 in Jackson, having been a Mason over fifty years.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Hilda Jeanette Gholson Bailey of Oakfield; two daughters, Pamela Hickman (Donnie) and Cathy Bailey all of Oakfield; seven grandchildren, Heather Castano, Brandon Bailey, Blake Bailey, Jennifer Rogers, John Matlock, Darlene Kitchen and Scott Hickman; nine great grandchildren, Hayden, Josiah and Victoria Castano, John Henry Matlock, Ryan Rogers, Brittany Flowers, Chevy White, Jullianne Hatchett and Jackson Hickman; one great-great granddaughter, Emery Flowers and one brother, Ronald Bailey of Grayson, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Curtis Mike Bailey in Sept. 2016 and three brothers, Jessie Bailey, Clark Bailey and Donald “Duck” Bailey.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery at Jacks Creek, TN.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
