Jamie Curtis Baker was born on July 27, 1959, the son of the late Luther Columbus and Winnie Jewel Baker. On April 24, 1980, he was united in marriage to Mitzi Chilcote Baker, who preceded him in death on June 20, 1980. Curtis departed this life on February 27, 2019, at the age of 59 years and 7 months.
Curtis honorably served his country in the United States Marines. He once risked his own life to save a fellow marine during a live ammo exercise. Due to his time in the Marines, he was able to travel to many places in the world including Egypt, Japan, and Hawaii. Prior to moving to Savannah, Tennessee in 2004, he spent several years in Hawaii where he started his family. Curtis will be remembered as a devout Christian and loving father. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee.
Curtis is survived by his daughters, Cheyenne L. Meneely and Krystal-Gayle H. Miller; stepson, Steven L. Martens; sisters, RuthAnn McCain and husband Daniel, Laura Lee Ramey and husband James, and Cricket Baker; brother, James Allen "Booger" Baker and wife Gwen; sister-in-law, Tammy Baker; and grandchildren, Sophia-Alexis Ku'ulei Meneely and Skye Kaimana Meneely; the mother of his children, Sarah; and his special companion of 10 years, Glona Ponds.
In addition to his parents and wife, Curtis was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie "Grave Digger" Baker.
