Daisy Ruth Young

Daisy Ruth Young departed this life on July 15, 2012, at the age of 78 years, 8 months, 15 days.She was born in Florence, Alabama on October 31, 1933, the daughter of Earnest and Lillie Bell Richardson Smith. On March 2, 1957, she was united in marriage to Melvin Eugene Young, who preceded her in death on December 4, 1976. Daisy had worked for Brown Shoe Company as a sewing machine operator until the plant closed in 1993. She loved to work in her garden, fish, sew and quilt.Daisy is survived by her children, Rita June Thorne of Savannah, Tennessee, Martha Ann Byrd of Pulaski, Tennessee, Angie Denise Martin, Steven Wayne Young, and Jackie Anita Young all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Swayed Thorne, Slade Thorne, Laura Beth Shaver, Marilyn Byrd, Michael Martin, Nathan Martin, Coty Young, Cassidy Plunkett, Ginny Ann Plunkett, Miranda Plunkett, and Jeremy Lance Brannon; great grandchild, Zoey Grace Shaver; sisters, Dorothy Watkins of Florence, Alabama, Annie Lois Thomas of Greenhill, Alabama, and Gladys Thomas of Florence, Alabama.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Lillie Smith and Dennis Ray Young; sister, Ruby Smith Nard; brothers, Hubert, Jake, Charlie, William, and Willard.
