Daniel Russ Baskins of Collinwood, TN was born June 19, 1976 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee the son of Brenda Moore Beckham and the late Marshall David Baskins. Mr. Baskins departed this life Friday, May 28, 2011 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 34 Years, 11 Months, 9 Days following an automobile accident in Wayne County, TN. In addition to his father, Mr. Baskins was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Nicole Tripp; a brother-in-law, Darrell Horton; and a grandfather, Bill Moore.



Daniel, a 2010 graduate of Faulkner University, was a maintainance planner at Daikin America in Decatur, AL. He served in the National Guard in the 115th Signal Battallion. During his military service he served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.



Sgt Baskins enlisted into the Alabama Army National Guard on December 17, 1998 and began basic training at Ft. Benning, GA on Jan. 19, 1999. After completion of basic training, Daniel reported to Ft. Gordon, GA on April 2, 1999 for advanced individual training. On May 24, 1999, he completed AIT and was awaaded the Military Occupational Specialty of 31L, Cable/Wire Systems installer/Maintainer. Daniel transferred to HHC 2/121 2IN, Albany, GA on June 10, 1999 for a short time then transferred back to CO A 115th Signal Battalion, Florence, AL on Dece 9, 1999.



Daniel was mobilized for deployment with Alpha Company 115th Signal Battalion on Dec. 7, 2003. After a train-up period at Ft. Campbell, KY, Daniel was deployed with his unit ti Iraq on Mar. 3, 2004. He was assigned to FOB Palawoda in Balad, Iraq until his redeployment in March of 2005. Daniel was promoted to SGT/E5 on March 20, 2006 and graduated Warrior Leadership Course on July 25, 2009.



Awards and decorations he has received include: National Emergency Service Ribbon (AL), Active Duty Basic Training Ribbon (AL), Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/OLC, Combat Action Badge.



Daniel was united in marriage to Holly Morgan on May 24, 2003 and was a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, and cousin.



He is survived by his wife, Holly Morgan Baskins; son, Aidan Russ Baskins both of Collinwood, TN; parents, Jim and Brenda Moore Beckham of Leighton, AL; two brothers, Eric Moore and wife, Tanyel of Tuscumbia, AL and Lance Tripp and wife, Judy of Denver, CO; sister, Melinda Tincknell of Hazel Green, AL; grandparents, Don and Ruth Paulson, Florence, AL; parents-in-law, Gordon and Linda Barkley Morgan; sister-in-law, Beth Horton; grandmother-in-law, Earlene Barkley; nieces and nephews, Josh Hale,Charley, Chelsey, and Chance Moore, Luke Horton and Ivy Horton, Christian McConnell, Kayla Butler, Lexie Tincknell; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
