Daniel Bruce

Daniel William Bruce Jr., 53, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014.

Dan was born January 21, 1961 in Selma, Alabama, but spent his childhood in Rockville and Germantown, Maryland while then raising his own family in Acworth, GA.

Dan graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland in 1979. He worked for IBM in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and Atlanta, Georgia until he retired in 2012, then fulfilled his lifelong dream of relocating to Tennessee. Dan was an expert marksman and a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved to fish, loved genealogy, spending many hours tracing his family roots, loved Georgia Football and he loved his dog, Sam. He was always a gifted artist from the time he was very young, and was especially talented with portraits and caricatures. Dan also enjoyed history, visiting many civil war parks and sites with family.

For Dan, the love of family was the most important thing in his life. He is survived by his parents Daniel Bruce, Sr. of Tiptonville, TN, and Shirley Bruce (maiden name Holder) of Germantown, Maryland; three children: Meaghan Bruce, Daniel Bruce III, and Joey Bruce of Acworth, Georgia. Dan is also survived by his six sisters: Becky Loven (Scott), Linda Bruce, Janice Coker (David), Carol Bruce (Michael Bond), Diane Moore (Gregg) and Susan Greenwood (Rob). Dan is also survived by his beloved dog Samson.

Funeral services for family and friends will be held Sunday, April 6th, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Home, 450 Church Street, Savannah, TN. Family and friends will be received starting at noon followed by a service at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow.
