Daniel Ross Spoerl

Daniel (Dan) Ross Spoerl, age 76, of Franklin passed away on August 24, 2015 at Froedtert Hospital due to heart complications. He battled Parkinson's for the past 10 years. Dan was born in Milwaukee June 12, 1939 the second son of the late Harold and Bernice Spoerl. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, IL, in 1957 where he starred as a fullback on the football team. After attending St Norberts College for two years Dan joined the Navy in 1960. In the summer of 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee, he met the love of his life Betty Jane Fowler. Betty and Dan were married in the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton February 11, 1961. Dan and Betty raised three children David, Lori (deceased), and Jennifer. Dan left the service in 1964 and joined Xerox Corporation as an Electrical Engineer. Dan retired from Xerox in 1998 in Nashville, Tn. Dan and Betty built a home in Clifton, TN in 2000 and lived there until 2012. They moved back to Milwaukee to be near Dan's family and friends. Dan's passion was his love for Betty. Dan and Betty's love for each other was a true Love Story as everyone who saw them knew.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Betty, son David (Margaret) daughter Jennifer Spoerl Ackerman (Thom), son-in-law Rick Brooks grandchildren Douglas Spoerl (Serene), Stephanie Brooks Ratcliff ( Josh), Ashley Spoerl, Daniel Brooks (Andrea), Thomas Killian, Katherine Killian, Joe Barrineau (Ashley), Christopher Barrineau, Kyle Ackerman, Karyn Rios(Chris), and great-grandchildren Lori Kay , Summer, Decker, Lily, and Damien, and siblings Glenn Spoerl (Karen), Rick Spoerl, (Anne) and Sally Markert (Charlie). His long time friend Glenn DuChateau and cousin, Bonnie DuChateau, sister in law, Marion Davis, Brother in law, Bobby Fowler (Carolyn) and his very favorite Aunt, Joan Schroeder and a multitude of friends. Everybody loved Dan.

Dan was a member of the Wauwatosa United Methodist Church, the International Gideon, the Parkinson Organization, past member of Clifton Masonic Lodge #173 and the Clifton Order of the Eastern Star # 155. He was very active in the Presbyterian Church in Clifton for many years and would fill the pulpit to speak if needed.

Dan's passions also included his love for family, his love for the Lord, Prison Ministries, his Parkinson' Groups and his Green Bay Packers.

A celebration of Dan's life will be on October 3, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clifton,TN at 1:00 p.m.with military rites following at the Clifton Cemetery.
