Danny Hosea

October 29, 1952 — April 23, 2026

Danny Hosea, of Germantown, Tennessee, was born October 29, 1952, in Savannah, Tennessee, and passed to his heavenly home Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Growing up in Savannah, Danny quickly became a star athlete from a little league baseball pitcher to a three-sport letterman, excelling in baseball, basketball, and football at Hardin County High School. He often recalled his years in Savannah as a wonderful time and place to grow up and was honored to be selected as a member of the Hardin County Hall of Fame.

After high school, Danny earned a four-year scholarship in football at the University of Memphis, where he started as a defensive end every year as a varsity player. He has been a true-blue loyal Memphis Tigers fan ever since and could be found at every Tiger football game, as well as other sporting events on campus. He also served as a board member of the M Club, an organization for alumni lettermen.

After earning a business degree, Danny began a career in logistics in the Memphis trucking industry where he worked for over thirty years before retiring as General Manager of TCX. He enjoyed retirement, continuing to be a true, loyal lifelong friend to many, with whom he liked golfing, breakfast meetings, football games, and lengthy phone conversations. He also loved visiting with the grandchildren and traveling with the family, especially annual beach trips.

Danny’s great love of God and family was evident throughout his life. After college, he married his high school and college sweetheart, Mary Carol Williams, with whom he was celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary this year. He was a devoted father to their daughters Elizabeth Anne Hosea Walker (Andrew) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Amanda Catherine Hosea Biggs, of Memphis, Tennessee. He was fondly known as Tiger to his beloved grandchildren Robert Jackson Walker II, William Sheppard Walker, and Catherine Holcomb Walker.

A faithful follower of Christ, Danny attended Redeemer Evangelical Church in Germantown, Tennessee. He and Mary Carol also have hosted a bible study in their home for the past twenty three years with dear friends who have become like family. In times of trouble or confusion, he was always quick to remind family of his favorite verse, Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin and Robbie Hosea, and his sisters, Carolyn Hosea Franks and Nell Hosea Allison.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 28, at Redeemer Evangelical Church, 3100 South Houston Levee, Germantown, TN 38139. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens in Savannah, Tennessee, at a later date.
