Dan Patterson
Jackson, TN: Danny Howard "Dan" Patterson, age 67 passed away Saturday, August 11 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Danny was born August 6, 1951 in Memphis, TN the son of Jesse Hulon (J.H.) and the late Faye Katherine Murley Patterson. He grew up in Henderson and Jackson, graduating from Northside High School in Jackson. He then studied Business at Jackson State Community College, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing at UT Martin. He played baseball for both of these schools. After college he attended Southwest Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX and earned a Master of Divinity degree. He served as Student Activities Director at Union University in Jackson for ten years where he also developed and coached the women’s softball team. He left Union and began working as an insurance agent for Mutual of Omaha from 1999 to 2015. He started his own business at that time serving as President of Safari Financial in Jackson.
He was an outdoorsman and sportsman. He played baseball in college, enjoyed racquetball and snow skiing. He loved the TN Vols and the Dallas Cowboys. He also liked to travel. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and was always active. He had served as a Deacon at Southland Baptist Church in Memphis. He was a supporter of evangelism and mission works and did personal evangelism wherever he was. He was always handing out Biblical tracts.
He is survived by his father, J.H. Patterson of Jackson; a daughter Faith Noel Patterson and two sons Jonathon Daniel Patterson and Noah Samuel Patterson all of Jackson; three brothers Harold Patterson of Tupelo, MS, Steve Patterson of Franklin, TN and Rodney Patterson of Bartlett, TN.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Gary Patterson.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 15 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s East Main Chapel with burial to follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 14 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and then again on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time at the East Main Chapel.
A meal for the family and friends will be at Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, after the committal services at Cave Springs Cemetery.
