Henderson, TN: Danny Lynn Reed, age 78, passed away August 2, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Chattanooga, TN February 12, 1943 and raised in Henderson by his adopted parents Rubin Ray Reed and Eva Hersilla (Harris) Reed. He graduated from Chester County High School. He married Barbara Diane McKenzie in 1961 and they made their home in Finger, TN. Barbara preceded him in death in June 2021 after 62 years of marriage. He served 6 years in the TN National Guard. He worked in maintenance for the Tennessee Department of Transportation for 33 years. He drove a gravel truck for the McNairy County Highway Department for 13 years. He also drove a school bus for the McNairy County School system for 8 years. He last worked for Murray Guard for 12 years.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bethel Springs.
He was a loving father of four and a devoted husband.
Mr. Reed is survived by three sons, Richard Reed (Fiancé Pam Young) of Henderson, Christopher Reed (Carly) of Michie, TN, and Michael Reed of Toone; a daughter, Suzanne Hale (Jonathan) of Henderson and eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Memorial services with military honors will be 7:00 PM Monday, August 9, 2021 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Crook Avenue.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM service time on Monday.
