David Alan Baggett, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Bethel Springs, Tennessee, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, leaving behind a profound legacy of faith, service, and love. Born in Selmer, Tennessee, on January 13, 1964, to Billy Joe Baggett and Loretta Gene Payne Baggett, David lived a life completely guided by his devotion to the Lord and his commitment to spreading the Gospel. First and foremost, David was a gospel preacher. While he successfully owned and operated Baggett Equipment, his business was ultimately an extension of his true calling: sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone he encountered. He strove to be a steadfast witness for Christ no matter where he was or what he was doing. David’s heart for service reached deep into his community and far beyond; he led a long-standing jail ministry, pastored at Living Waters Church, taught Sunday School at the City of Refuge Church, and traveled on numerous mission trips to Mexico to share his faith and serve those in need. Outside of his ministry, David's greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, especially during their family vacations, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured forever.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Billy Joe and Loretta Baggett. His legacy of faith, love, and service will be forever carried on by his devoted wife of 39 years, Tonya Harbin Baggett, whom he married on April 11, 1987. He is also survived by his children, David Baggett II and his wife Shelby, Alivia Thurmond and her husband Eric, and Jonathan Baggett and his wife Derian; his siblings, sister Cindy Brewer and her husband Robert, sister Sarah Kilpatrick and her husband Terry, sister Dana Williams and Ray, brother Billy Baggett and his wife Betty, and brother Glendale Baggett and his wife Ann; and his nine precious grandchildren, Alex Thurmond, Alana Baggett, Ashton Thurmond, Aliee Baggett, Elijah Baggett, Ashlynn Baggett, Adelyn Thurmond, Remi Baggett, and Mia Grace Baggett. David’s life was an inspiring testament to his faith, and though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he has been called home to the Lord he served so faithfully.
