David Coats

David Coats was born October 10, 1951 in Selmer, TN the son of the late Obed Harrison Coats and Mamie Weaver Cobb Coats.

He was united in marriage to Glinda Ruth Troy on November 30, 1974.

Mr. Coats worked for Pittman Brothers Gas Company in Bethel Springs for 33 years. He attended Forty Forks Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, cooking and playing with his dog, Buddy. He was always looking for a bargain and loved going to auctions.

Mr. Coats departed this life on April 19, 2020 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 6 Months, 9 Days. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Glinda Coats of Bethel Springs, TN; three daughters, Teresa Melinda (Coats) Lester and husband Mark, Laura Virginia Coats Faulkner and husband David, Lisa Dawn Coats and fiance Anthony Powers; two sisters, Verna Webster and husband Bill, Edna Phillips and husband Sidney; three grandchildren, John-David Coats and fiance Brittney, Lori Kiestler and husband Chris, Melissa Murrell and husband Chuck; four great grandchildren, Caroline, Addison, J.T., and Jacey; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Coats was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dewayne Coats; a sister, Linda Dubois; two brothers, Ezra Coats and Theodore Coats.

THERE WILL BE A DRIVE THROUGH VISITATION FOR MR. COATS AT SHACKELFORD FUNERAL DIRECTORS OF SELMER, 160 WEST CYPRESS AVENUE, SELMER, TN ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22ND BEGINNING AT 1:00 PM AM AND CONTINUING UNTIL 3:00 PM. THE PUBLIC MAY PARTICIPATE, BUT PARTICIPANTS MUST ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PARK YOUR VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT OR EXIT YOUR VEHICLE. YOU WILL DRIVE UNDERNEATH THE CARPORT AND WILL BE ABLE TO PAY YOUR RESPECTS TO MR. COATS AND HIS FAMILY FROM YOUR VEHICLE. AN ATTENDANT WILL LIST YOUR NAME IN THE REGISTER BOOK.
