David Cunningham

David Cunningham Sr. was born July 10, 1920 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Ode and Nishie Moore Cunningham. He was united in marriage to Mildred McAfee on December 24, 1941. Mr. Cunningham departed this life on Thursday October 27, 2011 in Bells, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 3 Months, 17 Days. He was retired from Pickwick Landing State Park, loved to farm, and was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church. Mr. Cunningham served his country honorably in the United States Army having served in the 44th Infantry Division in Germany and France during World War II. He owned and operated a general store in Michie for approximately 25 years and was a former Alderman for the Town of Michie. He was a TSSAA basketball official for over 20 years.He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred (McAfee) Cunningham of Michie, TN; a son, David Cunningham, Jr. and wife Janice of Michie, TN; a granddaughter, Jodi Cunningham Webb and husband Dan of Bells, TN; a grt-granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Webb of Bells, TN; a sister, Katherine Marler of Corinth, MS; a brother-in-law, Robert Smith of Michie. A host of extended family and friends.In addition to his parents, Mr. Cunningham was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Leesa Rae Cunningham; a sister, Mae Smith; two brothers, Rufus Cunningham, Clydus Cunningham.
